Who said fish fingers are just for kids? Instead of reaching for that frozen box of mystery-meat fish sticks, why not cook some fresh ones make with a crispy beer-batter? They take less than 30 minutes to make from start to finish, and they taste way better.

Ingredients:

  • 750 grams of fish fillets
  • 5 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 6 cloves of garlic
  • 1 beer (optional)
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 liter of vegetable oil

Preparation

In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks and a sprinkle of salt together with the beer.

Add the flour until it forms a thick batter.

In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites thoroughly. Gradually, add them to the batter.

Marinate the fillets with lemon juice, salt, pepper and garlic for 20 minutes.

5Coat each fillet with batter and place in a pan with hot oil.

Once they are fully cooked through and browned on both sides, remove them and place on a plate lined with paper towels to soak up any excess grease.

7Serve hot.
